first day of school

Miles is back at preschool for his second year now and he is like a fish in water. Actually we both are. (Minus my one carpool pick up drama where I was the idiot mom holding up the whole line.) There was no drama for his mama this year as going to preschool was no big thing. (Last year it was his first year and of course, I was all a twitter preparing for it.) Last year I was able to get that perfect shot of him right before he got out the door. This year? Well, with a six week old in tow there was no time for photos. (Blargh!) So I frantically snapped shots paparazzi style in the parking lot, dodging other parents. (Here’s last year’s first day of school shot.)

Here’s my guys, heading into school. Last year I ignored the school’s request for a large backpack, and sent Miles to school with his cute little preschool one. This year, I conceded and here’s Miles, swimming in the straps of his new huge backpack. (Thankfully I was able to find one that was designed to be super light.) He thinks it’s pretty cool that you can clip the straps together at the chest though.

Here he is, peeking around the corner into his room. Oh I just love that sweet boy. After he peeked around the corner, he pointed and said, “That’s where I’m supposed to go!”

Here’s Jocelyn, along for the ride. How hilarious is this photo?

There’s that big ‘ol backpack. It’s big enough for him to carry until the six grade, I think.

Thank God for preschool! I’m so thrilled for him to go somewhere and get to do fun activities a couple of hours a few times each week. I try so hard to keep his appetite for activities satiated but the kid practically freebases crafts. Seriously. I had a box full of 30 different craft projects that I got out today and he fully intended to sit down and do every single one. I have to ration craft projects around here! It’s like me and a Family size bag of Twizzlers. If you keep them within reach, he’ll just blow through the whole thing. It really is so much fun and so great that he loves to make and create things. It just keeps me on my toes. Oh and since he has that super curious streak, many times he’ll make a craft and then take the whole thing apart again. He’s a trip.

It’s quite a feat getting out the door in the morning with the three of us, Me, Miles and Jossy, but it’s so worth it. So far I have been able to get out with Jocelyn and run some errands, always just making it back to school JUST in the nick of time. Man, life with two is a WHOLE different story. Whew!

That first pic totally looks like a paparazzi pic! Some LA dad incognito. 🙂 And that pic of Jocelyn is hilarious!! Oh, what a precious family you have. 🙂

TOTALLY agree with Cassie. John most DEFINITELY has “Hot Dad” status going on in that first shot with those Top Gun-style aviators 😉

PS – Miles is so cute. I can’t wait to see his kindergarten photos some day 🙂
