i actually got out of town…without kids!

Last month my friend Bobbi turned 30 (yay! My young friends are finally starting to enter my age bracket!) and her very sweet husband, Mike, threw her a surprise party. My super awesome babysitter took over here at home and John and I headed down to Indy to participate in the festivities. How wonderful it was to get away for an evening and hang out with grown ups. I’m usually balancing two kids plus my camera and that’s just a huge pain, so I don’t usually take many pics of parties lately. However, this evening there was no balancing a baby on my lap while trying to eat, just me, my glass of wine and my camera to hold. What a luxury! So I snapped a few pics.

Who knew chalkboard paint on pots would be such a cute little decoration and fun gift? Adorable.

There’s the birthday girl getting a smooch before she blows out the candles on her super yummy chocolate chip cookie dough cake.

Awwww, the cuties of Open Field. I love photos of people laughing.

Speaking of laughter…There’s Annie. She made the amazing cake and the cookies you’ll see in a minute with Bobbi’s logo.

Almost too pretty to eat. Almost… Hey, my bird would look pretty cute on a cookie, dontcha think?

That’s Ryan. He’s my graphic designer and friend. He is the nicest guy and has a beautiful wife. I can’t believe I didn’t get a photo of her. Next time Andrea!

Here’s me and my girls Gail and Jess. John snapped this pic with Gail’s camera. Holy cats it was a STEAMY night. Thankfully this photo was taken before we all melted!

What a happy birthday it was for Bobbi and all of us to experience as well. I’m always so happy for my friends when they leave their twenties and enter their thirties, the years that have proven to be the best of my life. How blessed I feel to know all of these talented people and get to spend a lovely summer evening with them amongst twinkling lights and rainbow balloons. I hardly EVER get to see these guys, but it sure makes it that much more special when I do get to go.

Oh and the highlight of the party was hearing the story of this wedding straight from the birthday girl’s mouth. Go check it out and be the 306th person to comment. (Seriously.) The story has made it into all sorts of news publications, so it’s pretty epic.

Thanks for checking in. I have a babysitter here tonight not to go out to a fabulous party but to FINALLLLLLLLY wrap up things and start booking sessions. I’m letting the summer pull me away into it’s beauty. For that I apologize…kind of.

Have a great night lovies!
