Last weekend I went to a party and met THE COOLEST group of people I have met in a long time. I can’t remember the last time I went to a party and had a great time talking to everybody and had no awkward silences or secret signals to John to exit early. Well, one of the people I met was Denise, who is a clothing designer and runs Matilda Jane Clothing. (Her clothing is AMAZING. I can barely throw together something to wear to the grocery store, let alone the wildly creative stuff she puts together.) Well, I got home from the party that evening and I already had an email from her asking me to do a shoot for last minute Christmas gifts. Yippee! It was going to be a close call for Christmas, but we made it happen.
We showed up at their house and John and I did our own little internal happy dance when we saw the room we got to shoot in. Look at this bed, nice white sheets AND this amazing natural light. We were kids in a candy store! That little guy sitting amongst the sheets is Gabe.
His brother Joe soon joined him. To get this shot I crawled in bed with them and we practiced pulling the covers over our head and whipping them off really quick. It brought on some real giggles and I LOVE this shot.
Awwwwww!

Couldn’t ignore their completely unique bed. Their house was like an art gallery. She had to kick us out of there becuase we could have shot fun stuff all day.
Denise loves this shot as it really shows what a sweetie Joe is.
I couldn’t leave out Goliath. He was a gentle giant.
This photo of Gabe took our breath away. (Yes, I know, I’m dramatic!) But look at the light on his face and his sweet little lips. I’ve got Joes arm in the background, but at least I’m capturing real life around that house because it appeared that where one little guy was, there wasn’t another one too far away. : )
I usually have to set this kind of shot up but I was shooting him and he just held his glass up for me to shoot. Plus he is 2, and two year olds are amazingly fast, so it’s amazing that it got captured.
Those eyelashes KILL me. It must be something in the water, because his neighbor Preston has some killer lashes too.
Thank you so much Denise for everything! The shoot, the shoes, the referrals, etc. You are awesome! Looking forward to seeing you again soon! Oh, btw, thanks for the awesome post about us on your blog.
wow.
speechless.
Those kids are SO cute! And that bed is AWESOME! Even though I do not know them I can tell you did an amazing job capturing their personalities…but then again you always do! 🙂
WHERE on Earth did their mother find that bed? AWESOME!
You guys nailed it — and those boys are little heartbreakers in the making!!!!
Great work Bets! You are amazing!
I have a feeling Denise had a hand in the bed’s playful design. I love it. 🙂
These shots are simply gorgeous, Betsy- you and John both did an amazing job!
