my baby shower

Last month I was very blessed to have a beautiful and intimate baby shower thrown for me. After years of hearing people around me talk about how second babies don’t get baby showers, I never dreamed I would have one. But my sweet friends Erin and Sara were thoughtful enough to honor King Baby 2.0 with a precious gathering. I kept the guest list small, since it was my second shower and it was a perfect morning. I was really looking forward to the party because around the time of the shower, I was feeling pretty anxious about having two kids and it wasn’t even real to me that a baby was actually coming. It was really so nice to be surrounded with love and support and having the shower helped me get in the right place emotionally. In the past six weeks, I’ve really calmed my fears, gotten very excited and have really enjoyed these last weeks of pregnancy.

My friend Gail was very sweet to bring her camera and captured some images from the morning to share with you.

Sara and Erin did an amazing job setting the scene with a gender neutral, bird in a nest theme. (Notice the little crystal eggs in the nest on the table? So pretty!)

There’s the hostesses, Sara and Erin, smiling on as I open their gifts of sweet baby clothes.

How cute are my mom and her sister, my aunt Joan? So cute. 🙂 There were lots of laughs and smiles all around. It was a very laid back and nice morning.

Here’s me shocked that I got his and hers diaper bags for me and for John. Yep, John has his own Diaper Dude diaper bag. Is anyone impressed that I included a totally unattractive photo of myself to tell the story? I am. 🙂

Openmouthgift

Beautiful Sara with the tray of cupcakes. John, Miles and I ate the left overs all weekend. YUM!

Sara

Here’s my girl Gail. It was a miracle she could make it during wedding season (she’s a fellow photog) and had a seriously crazy schedule that month. (Like the rest of the world, of course. I think everybody that day had at least 3 parties to attend.) Thanks again for the photos Gail!

It’s the BEST to open a card and see the familiar handwriting of friends covering a card. Such a gift in itself. Oh and those cream puffs? I must have had 50 that morning.

Table 4

So many smiles going around with some great stories told.

Preeti

My mother in law (Andy’s mom) is very expressive. She tells great stories.

Barbhands

Me and my mom/Grandma to be again!

Momandme

Speaking of stories, Cassie was telling her birth story here and had EVERYONE in hysterics. (Yes, she had just had a baby 7 weeks earlier!) I think Barb enjoyed her story the most.

Laughterstory

Me and my BFF Amy. I NEVER get to see her. She too had to move mountains to be there that day. I felt so blessed to be surrounded by so much love that day.

Meandaim

Erin’s baby Cece made an appearance by the end of the party. How cute are these two? You know, Erin had a beautiful shower when she was expecting Cece, her second. I remember how wonderful it was that there was a party to honor the little life that Erin was preparing for, even if it was her second. Every baby is exciting and deserves a party! I remember hoping that I would be as lucky to have such a special day if I were to be blessed with another baby. I definitely was. : )

Erinandcece

Thank you so much Erin and Sara and all who came who made me feel so special and loved. I also want to thank everyone who has been just as excited for this baby as if it was my first. I have felt totally loved and supported as I prepare to bring another baby into our life. Actually, considering I”m blogging now and have about 9 zillion more friends (thanks to Facebook) than I did when I was having Miles, I think I feel about 100 times more supported this time around. Of course, I’m feeling so much more prepared this time thanks to that little guy Miles who helped pave the way for whoever is getting ready to come into our lives.

Oh and since these photos are from a month ago, here’s an iphone belly shot from today.

Thanks for tuning in. I hope you aren’t getting sick of hearing about all things baby!
