photography for commercial website

I did a project a while back for Grasshopper Diapers, a cloth diaper company out of Canada. I just heard from the creator that the site is up and live and the diapers are ready to ship!

I’m sure you can imagine who the main model for the project was. Yep, it was Fort Wayne’s own Miles Alexander King! I wasn’t able to blog any of the photos from the shoot, as it was a commercial project, so I had forgotten about the images. As soon as I clicked on the site, I squealed in delight at how cute and little Miles was! He was just a baby! John and I just laughed and laughed, remembering his jaunty little baby body. Oh what a punkin!!!!

This is my favorite photo on the site. His little legs crossed are so cute!! (PS That hat was knitted by the owner of Sarah Jane’s Yarn Shoppe, a super cool chick.)

I recall when I started the talks for this project, it was summer, hot outside and Miles loved the camera and moved pretty slowly. Well, by the time this project actually started, it was almost fall and Miles had turned into a crazy road runner of a little guy. I remember we almost dressed him up as a marathon runner that year for Halloween, that kid ran so fast. Oh, and he went to bed really early, like right around the time when it’s the perfect light for photography. So this project was a bit more daunting to me than I first thought.

Here’s a little action shot that makes me laugh. John didn’t have a chance in you know what using that reflector on speedy Miles. We had fun trying though.

Doing the photography for the website meant we got plenty of diapers for his collection, which are very well made. They saved our booties as the elastic in our previous cloth diapers had all pretty much shot in the leg and waist gussets. If you are considering cloth, or already using cloth for your baby, give ’em a whirl. They are nice and trim, we never shot the elastic, despite how great I am at that, and the colors!?! Bright and fun! LOVE EM! Who knows, perhaps I’ll get to use the pink ones we have for the next King baby. That would be fun, huh?

What a cute shot of Miles & John – it’s fun to see what was going on behind the scenes! Miles looks especially young to me in that picture. Looking forward to some diaper pictures on the new little King baby later this year.

Awesome job Betsy! One of my clients actually told me about these types of diapers. When we have kiddos, I will have to look into them.
