John may not have been home for Valentine’s day, but we did decide to give each other a gift we will treasure forever. We FINALLY ordered one of the canvases we have been wanting for a long time. It was taken by one of my BFF’s Bobbi and her sweet as can be, husband Mike. John just hung it this past weekend and here it is!

It’s funny how small it looks in this photo to me compared to real life, but that canvas is 30×40 inches. When Miles first saw it he stopped in his tracks and exclaimed, “That is SO BIG!” He still says that every time he sees it.

This is the largest canvas we have in our home. I was hesitant to put so much of an investment into a room where we are going to be the only ones seeing it. However, running your own businesses makes it very easy to climb into bed with client emails, a stressful situation or even just excitement for an upcoming project on your brain. It makes it difficult to rest your mind and body. So we decided to put a HUGE photo of us above our bed to remind us every night to shut off work and bring the focus back to us. What a gift Bobbi gave to us with this photo. I’m already loving how having that moment captured in time on our wall is helping me to stay more in the present. (Something that is REALLY hard for me to do!)

When Miles was born, our bedroom was still a dark sage green from the original owners. It was the dead of winter and SO dark in that room, even during the day. It was like a cave. I had had complications from my c-section and spent the majority of my days in that dark gloomy bedroom. It certainly didn’t help make those blurry (and painful) newborn days any easier. It was then that I vowed that we would make our bedroom a brighter and prettier place before our next baby. Well, done and done!! Of course we still have three other blank walls, but for now, I’m plenty content.

Another thing that is going to be DONE soon is our studio space! WE GOT THE KEYS TODAY! John spent the afternoon cleaning it today and we are going to be moving the large stuff tomorrow afternoon! (No worries, I won’t be lifting any heavy boxes with this belly!) But It’s so exciting, it is going to be so life changing to get all of these boxes out of this house and have our very own studio space to work from! No more meetings in coffee shops! (Though I will miss having an excuse to buy a chai or run to the mall when I have to make a client delivery…) Things are going to be in transition and messy around our house for a while, but hey, my bedroom is going to look beautiful, so at least I can sleep well!

Speaking of sleep, gotta run, BIG day tomorrow! Lots more coming when I get a chance!
