the cutest thing and other news

My friend Rachel, who is a photographer in Michigan sent me this photo of her children playing with the Christmas card we sent this past holiday. She said her son Win would say, “Baby, baby” as he pointed at Miles and that he thinks Miles is cute.

Ok, now isn’t that the sweetest thing!? That really brightened my day. First of all, how cool is it that it’s February and my Christmas card isn’t in the trash but still getting some face time and of course, just darling (that’s such an old fashioned word!) that Win is so intrigued by it. (It looks like her daughter Harriet is working on appreciating it too.) LOVE IT! Of course, unless this is your first blog visit, you know it’s a photo that Bobbi+Mike took of us. (One of my very favorite photos, btw.) So I’m sure that makes B+M happy too. : )

Thanks for the big warm fuzzy Rachel! Win and “Hattie” are PRECIOUS!

Love 2 U.

Oh, and in other really cool news, Miles took his first step today!! John and I were both standing there watching him which was awesome we got to share that moment. He was standing at his little push toy (aka, the hot dog cart) and he thought for a moment, then let go of the cart, stood for a second, took a step and then promptly fell down. Then back to speed crawling. He attempted another step about an hour later too. If only his speed crawling (which, I tell you, is FAST!) wasn’t so great he would probably try to walk more. When he first learned how to crawl I actually had his first crawl on video, but I can’t imagine we’ll be catching his walking on video for a while.

So yea for Miles!

Gotta run, I’m working on the super boring part of photography tonight. Contracts. Ok, John is working on the contract and I’m blogging. (Hey, what can I say, I just want to take photos!) I will say, that as much as contracts and number crunching are not my thing, I love having booked clients, so thank you and keep ’em coming! Without clients and contracts I can’t buy more photography equipment! (It’s so crazy, I haven’t bought new jeans in two years and never have a thing to wear, but Im DYING to buy another camera body amongst my ever expanding wish list of gear and goodies.)

However, the first thing I need to purchase next is a formal dress for the Fort Wayne Museum of Art’s gala coming up. Something extremely flattering and exciting was that I was ask to donate something for the Gala’s silent auction. So I’m donating a photography session and a $200 print credit. In case anybody checking my blog will be attending, it’s a chance to get a super fun session from us and help the museum grow.

Well, I need to get back to work and then to bed. Oh, and just in case you never got to see our card in person or on our blog, here’s what Win’s pointing at:

That IS a great Christmas photo. Wish I had something like that… Do you have any suggestions for what should be next on my wish list? I shoot almost everything with my oh-so-affordable 50mm 1.8 and despite researching forever, I can’t figure out what my next step should be lens-wise!?! :S
