p.s. dress my boy too

Yes, this is my third blog tonight. Itโ€™s another cry for shopping help. Two posts ago I was asking my fine blog readers (the coolest people around) to accessorize me. Please. I totally forgot to mention that Miles will be rocking this wedding with us. (If you know my BFF, you know she LOVES kids…

slow motion bail

Awhile ago we decided to rent bikes downtown and ride on the river greenway. John and I havenโ€™t ridden bikes since our honeymoon three years ago and even then in my pre-baby state, I barely made it up the hills of Peter Island. Weโ€™ve been considering getting bikes, but I hesitate just because right now…

Um…you can say I did something stupid. I didnt have an accident, but I very well could have! I decided to go on a bike ride on the river greenway with Zac and my dad…..probably 3-4 weeks after my c-section…..which before I was on bedrest 7 weeks prior so I had no muscle tone! We got to what I thought was our stopping point, and it was just our turn around point……needless to say, by the time I was done, I was walking my bike and crying.

Oh, you are not alone with your feeling stupid while biking! On a break from college, I took my friend home with me. She needed to exercise for a class so I told her I would bike along. It was around 11:00 p.m so it was dark. So we headed down the street on the sidewalk (mistake). She was jogging in front/side of me while we talked. Then, all of a sudden, my forehead ran into something (tree branch) and I fell and ended up in the street. It left a mark, but was pretty funny in the end. Just another one to add to my list of foolish/ridiculous injuries.

my brother works at fort wayne outfitters! haha just thought i’d let you know if you go there again, he’s the one with big curly hair.

accessorize me…please

Look at the adorable bridesmaid dress I get to wear in my BFFโ€™s wedding coming up. Itโ€™s in a super fun hot pink, shown in this photo below, but it doesnโ€™t look that metallic in real life. There are seven bridesmaids and we all get to choose our own shoes and jewelry in any color…

AHH bets. my friends prom dress was like this and she got some FUNKY patterned shoes and big banging colorful necklaces and braceletes… but i meannnn to express your personality.. id wear a camera around your neck and a BIG ol smile on your face!

Well, of course, my unimaginative self immediately thought black until I read that someone else already went that route. I’m not a fan of yellow, but I’m sure you’d pull it off! However, I’d like to throw out the idea of silver accessories.

  • annie pJune 15, 2009 - 12:45 am

okay i don’t know what to say about the hobbit feet, but if they give you that much trouble honestly you could go with some sassy thong flipflops that have those big gemstones on the straps – comfy AND edgy. i would vote for big fun earrings – play down the neck- you can pull of strapless so well with your arms and chest – i’d do ears, a big bracelet and the flip-flops (it sounds terrible, but i swear I can see it and i’m not talking 2$ old navy numbers. i like the yellow idea that or a grassy green would look hot with that pink. good luck!

hi Betsy! I know that etsy always has so many choices that are unique and expressive. I have more classic taste myself so I can’t get myself to think past matchy matchy but found a few fun things..like this amazing cuff: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=25967508&ref=sr_gallery_12&&ga_search_query=gold+and+pink+jewelry&ga_search_type=handmade&ga_page=&order=date_desc&includes%5B%5D=tags&includes%5B%5D=title

and when all else fails, pearls are perfect for any occasion.

I think you could pull off green. Your eyes would then stand out. I personally would stay away from silver and gold. Go with a bold color. Ps hair up to show off your neck line. Good luck can’t wait to see the end product!

You could totally do yellow or blue – both colors would compliment the pink dress. Maybe even some printed shoes? Places like Charlotte Russe and Forever 21 will definitely have some spicy accessories. These shoes are pretty awesome: http://www.charlotterusse.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3454747. There are few necklaces on this page that would work with those shoes or some yellow ones: http://www.charlotterusse.com/family/index.jsp?totalProductsCount=58&pageType=family&categoryId=3456443&cp=3456443&f=PAD%2FCategory%2Fnecklaces&fbc=1&fbn=Category%7Cnecklaces&view=all. Sorry if I am no help at all. I saw this as an opportunity to get distracted at work! ๐Ÿ™‚

my dress for my sisters wedding was similar to that. i wore big white pearls on a silver loose chain kinda thing …and a matching bracelet and silver shoes. that dress is super cute.

  • EmilyJune 15, 2009 - 5:14 pm

Truthfully, I feel like you’ve just handed me a Barbie doll and I get to finish dressing her!!! Oh, to be 8yrs old again and playing in my room with my old sister, listening to Thriller and dressing up our Barbies.

My suggestions: Peep-toe heels, rockin bracelet (love the Etsy find from another comment!) and a belt (yep…I said a belt!). I’m thinking that you could pull off a funky heel/peep toe shoe in yellow/orange/bright “pool” blue and a skinny belt (maybe in yellow patent?????).

Nothing like armchair shopping — my favorite! Try Shoes.com and look at these brands — Gretta, Steve Madden (they have some funky turquoise ones) and Carlos – by Carlos Santana (they have some REALLY funky ones — with a lot of color). I think turquoise would look really nice with the dress color. Don’t rule out looking at Charlotte Russe in the mall — they have a lot of inexpensive shoes and lots of bracelets and necklaces. Have fun — even if it isn’t your bag!!

Hey Bets…check out Anthropologie.com. Got to the necklace category, and look up these: 1) Thunderstorm necklace in the color slate 2) Sweet Petunia Necklace 3) Perpetual Spring necklace. I think all of these would work. See what you think!!!

How about a golden bird necklace — honestly way more awesome than it sounds: http://supermarkethq.com/product/golden-bird-necklace

  • AndreaAugust 21, 2009 - 4:29 pm

Who makes this dress??? I’d love to use it for my wedding!!!

  • ErinOctober 10, 2009 - 1:39 am

Yes..please..please…where did you get the dress? I am looking for a teal dress exactly like that!

  • KarinaJanuary 8, 2010 - 12:08 pm

john’s commercial

Some of you may know, especially if you have gone to betsyandjohn.net and found our two businesses sitting next to each other, that my husband is a composer and has a little studio in our home. (Two creative businesses within 25 feet of each other. Yea, it can get nutty.) Anyway, John used to work…

I meant to shoot you a message on Twitter, but I saw it! It was around 1:30am Thursday (I guess Friday actually) when I was still packing. It sounds awesome! The video portion of it reminds me of the intro video at the games (that I also love). Awesome job John!

on the farm with CJ

I met this sweet little guy, CJ, at The Solomon Farm last month for an afternoon of exploring and family snuggle time. The cutest thing, next to CJ, were the adorable baby goats that hopped around. If you ever need a place for a family picnic, go try that place out. Though be careful, you… Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...
