easter weekend, king style

Here’s a little peek into our Easter weekend with a few quick photos and commentary by me. Hope you had a great one, as you’ll see, we sure did!

I had still been sick the whole day before Easter with my yearly birthday cold, so we didn’t get around to dying eggs until right before bed. Oh my goodness, it was so much more fun than I thought it would be. Miles was THRILLED with the whole process.

Easter 12

Miles was a pro at using the tongs to dip the eggs.

Easter 11

Then the easter bunny (froze her fingers and toes off) at 7:30 AM hiding the eggs just for Miles. He was THRILLED once again. He was so excited searching for the eggs. Most people do their egg hunts later in the day and they get these idyllic photos of their kids wearing khakis and pastel button downs gathering eggs. Not us. We bundle up in boots and get those eggs right away!

Easter 10

I loved his little boy lean into the tree to get this one. Those jeans are so dang cute on him! Oh and yes, wearing one of daddy’s hats backward was Miles’ idea.

Easter 9

He was a happy little egg hunter. (That, behind Miles, is our neighbor’s garden and it’s AWESOME. We live vicariously through them every year and try our best to keep Miles from picking from it. They planted it two weeks ago and already have two inch long buds of onions. Someday we will get off our booties and plant our own. It’s a miracle that our grass grows, let alone something I actually planted, so someday…)

Easter 8

Miles got bubbles in his Easter basket and guess who LOVES to eat them…

Easter 6

…Stamp! She loves to try to jump and catch the bubbles in her mouth. It’s the cutest thing ever and makes this great chomping sound every time she tries. You’ll have to watch the slideshow as I got lots of cute pics of her trying to eat them. (My 50 1.2 is so slow to focus though, that it was rough trying to focus on her little face.)

Stampbubble

As a kid we would dye eggs but I wouldn’t eat them. I think I was grossed out by the blue-ish green colored eggs and it would gag me. Not Miles, he went to town un-peeling, slicing and eating those eggs like crazy. I think they were all gone by Monday. So that was a pleasant surprise. BTW, here’s a food tip for parents: I give Miles an egg slicer and avocado halves and he loves slicing and eating plain avacado like crazy. It’s a great way for him to get a super healthy food. He’ll eat it fine on his own, but he loves using that slicer and doing it himself. The great thing is, it’s just wires, so it’s not sharp, plus he likes playing it like a tiny harp.

Easter 7

Speaking of eggs, aren’t they so pretty?

Easter 5

“Hey Miles, let me get a photo of you and an egg.” Well, folks, that’s exactly what I got.

Easter 4

Ok, so can I just gush for two minutes about Miles’ EYES, LIPS and CHEEKS? (ok, and his hair? and those ears?) I just LOVE THEM! (ok, his brows too.) I guess I just love every thing about that little face!!!

Easter 2

Miles is probably talking about the “coke” of his egg here. Yep, he calls the yolk, the coke. It cracks us up. Oh, and in other news, I impressed John when I told him that the white of an egg is actually called the “albumen.” He thought that was so hot that I knew the proper scientific term. We are just a perfect pair of nerds, huh?

Easter 1

Later that afternoon on Easter we went and had a great Easter gathering with my family, but I left my camera at home. I was still dragging a bit from my cold so the camera stayed home. Thanks mom & dad for putting on a wonderful gathering!

Have a great weekend everybody! Thanks for taking a peek into our little holiday. Check out the quick little slideshow I made to see more of our Easter weekend and plenty of additional pug bubble eating photos. (It’s not John’s music, but I couldn’t resist, it was such a cute song.)
