kiss my grits

Here’s a little peak into out costumes from last night’s costume party. Anybody remember the ancient show “Alice?” Well I was “Flo” or at least my own version of Flo. It was a FUN costume that I made from a dress I found in the clearance rack at H&M (that was a size too small!), some craftiness involving ribbon, cardstock, a white apron and of course, a blond wig I styled into an updo before I busted out a can of pink hairspray. (that was the MOST fun part of making the costume! Spraying the daylights out of that wig. Woo hoo!) Oh, some funky glasses, heavy make up and some fake eyelashes helped a bit too. I was missing a name tag, but we ran out of time. Here are some pics we took in the two seconds we had (and the one clean corner of our house we could find) before we ran out the door.

Here’s me trying to look sassy…

Doesn’t this hair look EXACTLY like the beauty school drop out’s hair from Grease? Woo wee, check out those dark roots!!!!

John was going to be Mel, of Mel’s diner, but that was too boring of a costume, so we went for something totally random and had him be a scarecrow. He makes a PERFECT scarecrow and came away sharing the BEST OVERALL COSTUME prize with a verrrrry convincing and well done Captian Hook.

Here’s John in the midst of his floppy scarecrow pose. Poor guy, that was NOT the most comfortable costume.

John and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE halloween and really had a lot of fun putting these costumes together. Miles got to try out his puppy costume out tonight at one of my dad’s work functions. He was ADORABLE and loved running around and dancing to the rock-a-billy music they had. We weren’t sure he would wear it, but he totally did and it was SO CUTE! We were running super late so didn’t get a chance to bring our camera, but we will on Halloween.

All right, I gotta run. I have a certain adorable family’s photos I need to get up and online!
